Wheat meal has grown to be the favourite swallow for many Nigerian families. For swallow lovers, it’s a perfect replacement to the regular dish of Eba and Amala. Not only does it have a taste great, it has way higher nutritional benefits and goes perfectly with any Nigerian soup.
Wheat meal is rich in fiber, which helps in controlling the rate at which sugar is absorbed from the intestinal tract and helps to aid weight loss. It digests fast, has low sugar level and helps to stabilize the body system.
Although, it’s easy to prepare, a lot of people still don’t make it to perfection and their wheat meal ends up being too soft, hard or lumpy.
Want to prepare wheat meal that has just the right texture? Follow the simple steps below:
- 2 cups of Dangote Wheat Meal
- 1 litre Water
Step 1: Add water in a small pot.
Step 2: Just before water starts bubbling, stir in wheat flour using a wooden spatula in one direction, either clockwise or anticlockwise so it doesn’t form lumps, till you get a semisolid consistency.
Step 3: Add half a glass of water or more depending on the quantity being prepared, then cover and leave to cook for about 15mins on low heat till the water evaporates.
Step 4: Turn once more, mold into any shape and serve hot with any Nigerian soup.
Step 5: To serve in a plate, dip your spatula into a warm bowl of clean water and pick the mold out of the pot. This helps the stickiness while serving.
